How Far In Advance Should I Book a Yacht in Miami?
To ensure you secure your preferred yacht and dates, we recommend to book your rental well in advance, particularly during peak tourist seasons. This strategy not only guarantees you a wider selection of yachts to choose from but also provides ample time to make any necessary arrangements or customizations to your charter.
What's Included?
Each charter we offer is designed to provide a comprehensive and luxurious experience. Included in your charter are the yacht itself, complete with a skilled captain and a dedicated crew to ensure your journey is seamless and enjoyable. The charter covers fuel costs for idle cruising. Additionally, we provide complimentary water and ice to keep you refreshed throughout your trip. You'll also enjoy full access to any amenities available onboard as well as any water toys specified to enhance your adventure at sea.
For your convenience, we ensure that all yachts are stocked with all the necessary essentials. You’ll find cups, cutlery, towels, and sunscreen readily available to use during your charter.
How Many People Can I Bring?
The US Coast Guard regulations require that all privately owned charter yachts in the United States are limited to a maximum of 13 Passengers (Charterer +12 Guests), plus crew. This regulation is named in the Passenger Vessel Safety Act of 1993: “No yacht for charter should accept more than 13 passengers onboard, no matter the size of the vessel or the age of the passenger."
P.S. Children/ Infants count as a passenger.
But I Have A Large Group, What Are My Options?
When your group is larger than the legal limit per USCG (Charterer + 12 guests),
There are 2 options available:
A Tandem Charter- Two Vessels or more rafting up (2 vessels = 26 Passengers Max (13 + 13), 3 vessels = 39 Passengers Max, etc.
A Commercial Licensed Vessel- Perfect for formal dinners, conferences, and weddings. These vessels have been commercially inspected by USCG and licensed to legally carry between 40 guests – 600 guests .
Where Are You Located?
Plan Sea Group is based out of Miami Beach.
All of our yachts we represent are privately owned and are located throughout South Florida from West Palm Beach down to Coconut Grove and everywhere in between including Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Aventura, North Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, South Beach, Miami and Key Biscayne either in a public marina or at a select private residence.
Where Do We Go?
You decide. Remember, when you are chartering a yacht, you become the 'owner' during that time and together with one of our knowledgeable Captains can craft your desired itinerary based on your interests and preferences or simply leave it up to them. Their job is to make sure you are happy and safe, they will present some of the most popular location options to go anchor at in South Florida based on the local area of your yacht. Keep in mind that the charter includes fuel for idle speed cruising in the designated local areas of the vessel selected. Some of the most popular anchor destinations are Star Island, Monument Island, Nixon Sandbar, Marine Stadium, Biscayne Bay, Hobie Beach, Stiltsville, Elliott Key and Haulover Sandbar.
What Happens If It Rains?
Miami generally enjoys pleasant weather almost year round, but sudden changes can occur as we are in the tropics. Plan Sea closely monitors weather conditions and prioritize your safety above all else. Note that due to the nature of South Florida, Rain and overcast clouds do not constitute severe weather. The captain and crew are experienced in making informed decisions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. In the event that a charter is deemed 'unsafe' to go out, we will first make every effort to reschedule the charter on another day. In the event that the charterer cannot reschedule, an in-house credit toward the Canceled vessel for future use will be given.
What Happens If I'm Late?
If you arrive late, please note that the charter will not be extended beyond the contracted end time. The charter period begins precisely at the scheduled start time. We suggest arriving no later than 15 minutes before your start time. However, if the vessel is available and you wish to extend your charter duration, we can accommodate this request with an appropriate price adjustment.
Can I Get Picked Up At A Different Location?
Charter boats typically depart from and return to the same port, adhering to local laws for a seamless experience. If you have a special pickup request, we may be able to accommodate it for an additional 'repositioning' fee. We may be able to do pickups from your home or nearby docks, keep in mind that a landing fee may apply and would be solely your responsibility. To arrange a special pickup, contact our charter specialists to discuss pickup options, costs, and details for your tailored charter experience.
What Should I Bring?
The key to a successful boat trip is smart packing. Bring only what you need to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience on the water. Feel free to bring your own food and drinks onboard or even easier, let us take care of it for you.
All the essentials will be waiting for you once you step foot on your yacht but if you have something specific you’d like to bring, please feel free.
To ensure your adventure is both enjoyable and hassle-free, we recommend just packing the essentials to keep your load light: Bathing suit, sunglasses & your favorite sunscreen. A lighter pack makes it easier to move around and relax on your boat trip. If anyone in your party is prone to seasickness, over the counter medications may be a good idea.
Do bring your ID or passport (if you are not a US citizen). These documents are crucial for identification purposes, particularly if you encounter the US Coast Guard.

Compliance with these rules helps us maintain the high standard of our vessels and ensures a pleasant experience for all guests. The charterer is responsible for any damage caused to the interior of the vessel. By following these guidelines, you help us ensure that our fleet remain in excellent condition and safe for all users. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to hosting you onboard.
Can I Bring My Own Food & Alcohol?
If you would like, you can always bring your own food and beverages for your charter, or you can have your Charter Broker arrange to have food and beverages delivered to your yacht prior to embarkation. we recommend ready-made foods so you're enjoying uninterrupted time on the water.
